Sonoma WineryI love wine. I love the sound of the cork popping out of the bottle, trying a new vintage or relaxing on the patio with a couple of tried and true friends to sample a favourite Sauvignon. For my next holiday, I’m looking to visit Sonoma Wine Country. One of my regrets has been that when close family was living there – for almost six years, to be honest – I never took advantage of a wine tour, instead hitting the outlet malls or putting it off until the next day, then the next, until it was time to go home. Gay San Francisco: Rex Hotel Review

The Hotel Rex is right in the midst of all the bustle of the San Francisco theatre district. Located in Union Square, it is one of the premier San Francisco hotels, and it was inspired by the art salons of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Paintings of famous writers adorn the walls, and there are smooth jazz sessions and poetry readings in the library bar, if that’s your thing. One to Watch: Philadelphia Q Fest

moviereelsComing up just around the corner is the Philly Q Fest, an eclectic lineup of gay and lesbian films. You may know it as The Philadelphia International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, they recently changed the name). The Alliance (used to be the Philadelphia Cinema Alliance) brings world class cinema to the city, and they also produce both of Philadelphia’s major film fests as well as a variety of year-round programming.

 

 

The 2009 QFest Virtual Program Guide is online here. Live in Philadelphia? Stop slacking and be a volunteer. QFest takes place in the Ritz East Cinemas in Old City and the Center City venue, The Prince Music Theater, from
