West Edmonton Mall is the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the world (largest mall in Canada, fifth largest in the world, but I guess when you merge shopping with entertainment, they hold the crown). You can’t argue with over 800 stores, a casino, indoor waterpark and amusement park, tons of restaurants, movie theatres, a themed hotel and more, more, more.

Edmonton and Calgary are the major cities, and really full of nightlife, museums and other attractions. If you do come in the winter, know that temperatures in the minus 30’s and even 40’s are common, so bring layers of warm clothes and drink whiskey to stay warm.

If you do get outside while you’re here, this is truly the Canadian wilderness. There’s the Canadian Rockies, cowboy country ranches and gorgeous parkland to explore.

If you’re wondering about the gay nightlife in Edmonton, it is slooowwwwly growing. You won’t find the gay scene like you will in Vancouver or Toronto, but it is coming along.
