Gay Pride Amsterdam is one of the best gay pride events in the world. If I had some time off of work and some money I’d go, but alas I’ll just have to hear about it through a few friends who are making the trip. Who wouldn’t have fun in a city that already lends itself to a good time: a vibrant red light district, wayyyyy laxer drug laws, and a thriving party scene where people often dance until noon…Anyways, I digress.

Gay Pride Amsterdam takes place this July 31 to August 2. This year’s lineup is chock full of the best events – street parties, circuit parties, the infamous Canal Parade, and so much more. Take a peek at what this year’s Gay Pride in Amsterdam has to offer.

Friday, July 31

It’s the first real party night of the Pride weekend. The numerous gay street parties are huge and full of energy, starting at the Reguliersdwarsstraat, Amstel Westermarkt, Paardenstraat (Women), Rembrandtplein, Halvemaansteeg and Amstelveld. (Don’t worry if you can’t pronounce it, just follow the hot girls and guys to whatever party you want). The main party tonight is held at the Melkweg. Also, Club Rapido production presents Reflexxx with famous DJ Offer Nissim. Not feeling the more commercial, clubby vibe? Head to M.U.L.T.I.S.E.X.Y or Galore.

Saturday, August 1

The highlight of the whole Amsterdam Gay Pride weekend is the Canal Parade in the afternoon afternoon. This parade attracts about 350,000 spectators a year, and features 75 fantastically decorated boats filled with hot boys and girls, sailing through the Amstel and Prinsengracht river from 2 to 6 pm.

Amsterdam Street

Another party night tonight (big surprise), with a free outdoor event hosted by Rapido at the Zeedijk with DJ Manny Lehman. The White Party is also tonight, with Roxy Colosseum and DJ Tony Moran. If you run with the trendier crowd, head to Paradiso for Happy! Happy! or continue onto Panama for PANN on Tour. Club Odeon features Bear Necessity for bears and bear lovers, rawrrr.

Sunday, August 2

What, it’s almost over! If you’re not sidelined with a severe hangover and are still up for partying, the traditional Closing Party is late this afternoon with a mix of Dutch artists and DJ’s. Celebrate the last day of Amsterdam gay festivites at the Stopera.
