Gay Single Travel Tips

So, you’ve decided to see part of the world alone: whether you’re going backpacking in Thailand or sunning yourself solo on the beaches of Fort Lauderdale, there are a few single travel tips you should pay attention to.

1. Plan out your trip. When you travel with another person or group, it can be relaxing to leave decisions to the last minute and just go where the wind takes you. However, if you’re traveling alone, you should really do your research and have plans in place before you go. A friend or family should always have a copy of your itinerary, just in case. Finalize travel arrangements as soon as possible.

2. Travel smart and safe. It can be easy to get caught up in the relaxed travel vibe, where you have a few drinks and go with a local who knows a great party spot. Especially if you’re a woman, you must be careful when traveling. Never go anywhere alone with a stranger, and watch your belongings on the streets in foreign places. Make sure you find out any areas to avoid from locals, your hotel concierge or tour operator. Watch your wallet and don’t leave belongings unattended anywhere – even for a moment.

3. Don’t be afraid to make friends. Yes, you need to be safe, and not trust strangers and all that. However, you’ll find it easier than you think to find someone to bond with over a pint or enjoy a sunset beside. Say hello to fellow travelers and you may just make a new friend or two. If you are on a gay singles cruise or at a singles resort, join activities and games, or get to know the activity coordinator.
